Privacy Policy — Steven Mitchell

Short version: This is a personal portfolio and content site. I don't run ads, I don't sell your data, and I don't use tracking beyond what my hosting and email platform require to function. If you have questions, email me directly.

This privacy policy applies to CreativeGuySteve.com, operated by Steven Mitchell, a freelance content writer based in Rancho Santa Margarita, California. References to "I," "me," or "my" mean Steven Mitchell individually.

What Data Is Collected

I collect only what's necessary to operate the site and respond to people who reach out.

Information you provide directly:

Email address, if you submit it through the contact or newsletter signup form (processed by Kit / ConvertKit)
Name and any details you include in a message or inquiry

Information collected automatically:

IP address and basic browser/device information — collected by Netlify as part of standard hosting infrastructure
IP address transmitted to Google when your browser loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com)
Basic server logs maintained by Netlify, including page requests and timestamps

This site uses Google Tag Manager (GTM-WJZL2BH2) and Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors interact with the site — pages visited, time on site, and general traffic patterns. This data is aggregated; I cannot identify individual visitors. No advertising or remarketing features are active.

How It's Used

Email addresses are used to respond to inquiries and, if you opted in, to send occasional newsletters or updates about my work
Server logs are used by Netlify for security, uptime, and infrastructure purposes — I don't access or analyze these for marketing
No data collected on this site is sold, rented, or shared with third parties for advertising purposes

Cookies

This site does not set first-party cookies. Third-party services (Netlify, Google Fonts, Kit) may set their own cookies as part of their normal operation. I don't use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or behavioral tracking.

Your Rights — California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:

Right to know — you can request what personal information I have collected about you
Right to delete — you can request deletion of your personal information
Right to opt out — I don't sell personal data, so there is nothing to opt out of in that regard
Right to non-discrimination — exercising any of these rights will not affect how I respond to you or whether I work with you

Email Unsubscribe

Every email sent through Kit includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email me directly to be removed from any list. I don't send unsolicited email and I don't add people to lists without their explicit consent.

Data Retention

I keep email addresses and contact information for as long as the relationship is active or until you ask me to delete it. Server logs maintained by Netlify are subject to Netlify's own retention policies.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and I do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If I add new services or change how data is handled in a meaningful way, I'll update this page and revise the effective date at the top. This policy was last substantively updated in March 2026.
